The House in the Mountain

I wonder what happens
in the sprawling white house
pushed into the mountain
does it evolve
like the seasons and the trees?

Even if it appears the same
the memories must change
emotions burned into the walls
carpets holding broken dreams
when the windows get washed
do they still remember the stains?

How do the cows perceive
this portion of paradise?
They seem to have bigger ears here.

There sure is a lot of landscape
to listen to
the putter of the stream
dirt dancing in the rain
settles to a coffee colored mud
slowly tumbles down the grade.

Butterflies wander
in a drunken pattern
while hummingbirds hover
suspended on invisible branches
circling vultures
look like they could touch the sun
as the clouds begin weeping
because they must move on.
