It's odd
how certain things
attract such similar people
coffee shops
collecting the progressive minded
young and buzzed
the naive soul is eager to change the world
but the picture is only partial
and its frame is frayed
"wouldn't it be nice"
the pretty lady in the sundress asks
"if everything were just this way?"
but the handsome man in the tailored suit
only sees a broken scene
"I could touch this up" he says
"make it clean."
but the lady shakes her head no
says it would end up like everything presented
"exactly" says the man
"a touch up here and there
and it all could be pristine."
on and on they go
an old man
silent in the corner
never bothered for his thoughts
his wisdom wasted
the gold is never brought.
